United placed 5th in PIW at the first WGI regional of the season. United was paced by a 4th place finish in PA and 5th place finishes in GE and VIS captions. According to director Chad Moore, "We are very encouraged coming out of the regional. Unfortunately we were not at full strength for the weekend, but the show was very well received. The judging panel was great and we got some great feedback. We are looking forward to finishing our program "ONE." Look for United this weekend at Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria, VA.

United Percussion made its long awaited WGI Coatesville Regional debut this past weekend. The unit's emotionally powerful program "ONE" was well received by United's local fans. United scored an 87.65 led by a strong showing in the General Effect caption. "We certainly hope that all those in attendance had an enjoyable experience. The kids really helped to bring the message to life. They have done a great job believing and communicating such a sensitive subject. We are going to continue to dig in and solidify the product for World Championships."
Look for United at their next performance at M.A.P.S. Championships on Saturday April 4, 2009.
UP named a top 10 marching moment of 2008!
United's spinning tenor gyro, was named by Halftime Magazine as one of the top Marching Moments of 2008. United Percussion's 2008 program "Fusion" featured tenor player Jeff Bickford while literally spinning in all directions.

UP and away to the WGI Dayton Regional
Look for United to make its 2009 WGI debut this weekend at the Dayton Regional. According to director Chad Moore, although very early in the season, this regional provides a very valuable experience for our entire unit. It gives us a chance get an early read from the very best in the world and to perform with the very best in the world. Needless to say it does not hurt that championships are in the the same location. This years program revolves around a very important issue in our county and carries a unique message for all. United 2009 is off to the races. We are excited to begin the 2009 season and members have begun tackling the first chunk of the 2009 program. It is still not too late to be a part of the 2009 team.

United Welcomes Darick Kelly and Brian Evans to The Team
United is very happy to announce the additions of Darick Kelly and Brian Evans to the 2009
team. Darick is a long time friend to the unit and staff and will be instructing the 2009 snare
line. Brian was a member of United's 2008 gold medal team and recently aged out after the
2009 World finalist team. Brian will be working with Christopher Johnson instructing the tenor

Mike Nevin to Arrange for UP 2009
UP is happy to announce that Mike Nevin will be arranging for the 2009 team. According to Mike, "It's been nice helping UP the past 2 years as a consultant, the members and staff are the kind of people I really enjoy working with. But, It'll be great to be fully involved with arranging, design and teaching for the group. I've taken a couple year's hiatus from that level of involvement, which I had during the 11 years I worked with Blue Knights, so I'm glad to be getting back in full swing with an Independent World ensemble again." According to Unit Director Chad Moore, Esq. "Obviously Mike has been a big part of our success over the last 2 years and we are very happy to have him on our team. We are incredibly excited that he will be arranging for this years ensemble."
